So as the dust settles from what was the most hectic spring/summer down at Sol headquarters to date, albeit only our second spring/summer together as a band, but a gig filled, tour happy, EP selling frenzy nonetheless, we now have the first official update of many to come on our official website.
Now friends and fans needn’t be disheartened by the little “time out” we are about to embark on during June as we have certainly been busy up until then and we have some smile inducing activities in the pipes to come after wards.
Let us fill you in…
As the summer festival/touring rounds which saw us in Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle, Cairns just to name a few wrapped up not too long ago, that gave us a much anticipated chance to indulge in some well earned hometown shows and work with some beautiful organizations for which we love to lend our support and continue to do so.
A few of the Melbourne gig highlights to note of recent days would have to include Viva Victoria Festival at fed Square, St Kilda festival, our launch at the East Brunswick club and the rowdy little packed house at The Retreat Hotel.
Apart from our beloved stage time though, we recently took time out to head into the studio and join the ranks of Aussie acts like The Living End, Missy Higgins and Something for Kate to show our support for Aardvark Worldwide inc. Which is all about “giving young people who have experienced adversity a place to discover and share creative self expression, friendship and a love of the arts.”
Last Saturday the Sol family, along with the Aardvark kids, or “the Aardvarkians” to be Aardvarkianly correct, hit the studio for a very special live performance followed by some workshops, ‘Q and A’ and PLENTY of jamming out! This is a brilliantly rewarding and worthy cause and something that Sol Nation will continue to be a part of in the future. Keep your eye on our Facebook fan page for plenty of photos from the day to come soon.
Now to the year ahead. And it’s one that promises to be another busy one for the Sol machine with plenty of festivals, interstate and even international touring all on the cards!
Due to itinerary logistics though, we cannot name any tours or dates at this stage but rest assured, they are most certainly coming and being finalized as you read this. BUT one gig that we simply must mention, and it is one that we are unbelievably excited about bringing to our incredibly supportive and loyal fans in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, is our show at Rubys lounge in Belgrave, supported by the two supremely talented local acts 2swai and Live@Subs!!
Sol Nation has enjoyed a continuous and on going following by fans in the south east and this show will be treated as a “home coming” for us and them and with the help of the support acts, will be nothing short of huge!
That just about wraps it up from our end and we hope you are feeling in the loop and up to date. Be sure to keep a keen eye on www.myspace.com/solnation for any other gigs and events but until next time, stay tuned, let the music free you and to use an old and worn cliché, watch. This. Space!
